The Hope House Garden – Fresh Produce on the Way!

For the second year, the Hope House has planted a garden in its back yard.  It’s raining, plants are growing, and there will be many varieties of fresh vegetables come harvest time!

The garden really started with Westwood youngsters shortly after Easter.  The Westwood Preschool on the Chanhassen campus had their 4 and 5-year-olds putting pepper, tomato, and bean seeds into individual containers. The students watered and planted the seeds and watch the sprouts come up.

Now, the sprouts are in the ground and growing in the Hope Garden.  There will be plenty of fresh produce later this season for the Hope House and any extra is destined for donation at local food shelves.

What kind of vegetables are in the garden?  There are squash, onions, cucumbers, peppers, carrots, tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, cantaloupe, and turnips.  And, don’t forget the sunflowers!  Wow, now that’s a garden!
